Moments ago, it was August 26, and we announced the call for proposals for the STC 2010 conference. Now, the October 5th deadline for submitting your proposals is rapidly approaching.
This post is a copy of the reminder mail that Caroline Jarrett, Track Manager for Usability/Accessibility at the conference, sent out on our discussion list. This is technically for STC members, but good topics from non-members may just qualify. Do contact Caroline first to be sure.

Hi all,
A quick reminder that the deadline for your Summit proposals is:
10:00 AM EDT, Monday, 5 October, 2009
I know that there is often an extension granted – but the conference committee has decided that this year, there won’t be any extensions. So get your plans sorted out and make sure you get those proposals in on time!
If you’re burning to present at Summit but you’re going to have real difficulty making the deadline, please contact me offline and we’ll figure something out: caroline.jarrett @ effortmark.co.uk
I’m relying on the majority of my presenters in the Usability and Accessibility tracks coming from our [UUX and AccessAbility] SIGs.
The online conference submission page is at:

Don’t be shy: put in your proposals and help to make this the best Summit ever!
- If you’re a new presenter: go for it. I’m specifically looking for ‘getting started in’ type proposals, or why not consider putting in a progression topic? I’m also not forgetting that many new presenters are experts in their topic and could offer a wonderful ‘advanced’ session. STC is a warm and welcoming audience and we recall that we were all beginners once.
- If you’re an experienced presenter: welcome back. This year, I’m looking for ‘getting started in’ proposals that help people who are new to topics in usability and accessibility. I’m also looking for ‘advanced’ proposals that will challenge and stretch our many senior professionals.
