We received this announcement from the STC IDL SIG.

Have fun, along with your learners. Use easy, free, multi-media tools purposefully in your course to engage your learners with content, each other, and you! During this one-hour webinar you’ll see examples of YouTube, TeacherTube, Voicethread, Voki, Wiggio, Jing, and many more. You’ll also learn how to embed these tools in your course.

Join us Thursday, April 21 as Angela Velez discusses and demonstrates how to use these multi-media tools in your courses.

Speaker

Angela Velez has worked in higher education since 1998. She began her career teaching composition and humanities courses. In 2005 she taught her first online course and found an exciting opportunity to learn more about an inevitable trend and shift in learning. In 2007 she decided to leave the traditional college classroom and work full time in online faculty training and support while also teaching online part time. Because of her work with online faculty, her doctoral research focused on ways to best prepare, support, and develop them. In 2009 she began working at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago at the Center for Teaching and Learning. She is the Coordinator of Learning Technologies there and has dramatically changed the campus since she began. With her last two positions, Angela has trained nearly 500 faculty members to teach online. She offers workshops in both technology and pedagogy and her goals are to ensure quality, engaging learning experiences for online students as well as prepare online faculty to not only be prepared for online teaching, but to excel at it.
